The Silhouette cutting machines use a small blade to cut designs and shapes from materials that are loaded onto a cutting mat. The design to be cut is created or imported into the Silhouette Studio software, which then sends the cutting instructions to the machine via a USB cable or wirelessly (via Bluetooth) They can cut a variety of materials including paper, card stock, vinyl, heat transfer material (for making custom apparel), fabric, adhesive-backed sheets, and more. (We always advise checking that your material can be loaded into the machine prior to purchasing bulk materials! Additionally, intricate or very small designs may require careful adjustment of settings for optimal results.)
But can Silhouette machines cut custom designs?
Yes! Silhouette machines are capable of cutting custom designs created by the user in Silhouette Studio, or imported from various file formats such as SVG, DXF, PNG, and JPG. This allows for endless possibilities in crafting and personalisation.
